Supplier Price Increases

Just announced by Kodak and Fujifilm USA: Effective July 2008 both companies will be implementing a price increase.

Eastman Kodak: “Prices will increase as much as 20%, depending on product line and geography. The increases are a result of the soaring prices of key raw materials, especially silver and aluminum, as well as the rising cost of petroleum.”

Fujifilm USA: “announced that it will adopt a price increase on its range of photographic papers, chemistry and other photosensitive products in the U.S. This decision follows the recent announcement from Fujifilm Corporation that effective July, 2008, prices of its photographic papers and other photosensitive products will increase by 10-20%. Fujifilm’s pricing in the U.S. market will track with this adjustment.”

We do not have any further details at this time. This change could affect CPQ's pricing in the future. We cannot determine to what extent or when it will be implemented until we get specific product cost changes from our suppliers. We will strive to be as timely as possible with any pricing changes.

Group Prints Pricing - Spring 2008

You may have noticed that last year class group type print prices went down from 1.50 to unit price. This saves our customers many dollars over the course of a season. The trade off was that we would need to charge for the test print we do that was covered under the 1.50 print price. The test print is necessary and a valuable tool to catch gross exposure variations, extreme cropping issues, some major text errors, and other problems that can be caught before the whole class or school is printed. Although not a “proofing service” it often saves valuable time and the expense of reprinting a job. We initiated the first part by lowering the group price but failed to initiate the test print charge until last week.
