Marketing Idea Winner # 1
Using Posters and Business Cards to Boost Sales From Any Event!

Congratulations Amy on winning a $100 CPQ Credit!

Last year, a friend asked me to photograph several children who would be attending a Halloween party (about 75 kids). It sounded like a lot of fun, so I accepted the offer and here’s how I handled it:

  1. I charged a small fee for a mini session (several shots) and 2- 5x7’s, of my choosing.
  2. After the event, I posted the images to my online gallery so if parents wanted to order more they could easily do so.

The party was a big success and everyone really enjoyed their images!

This year, I will be the photographer for the same event and it will be held at a local elementary school. And, to make things interesting, I’ve added an extra, but simple marketing idea!

I had CPQ print 2 - 12 x18 Press Posters to hang in the school, leading up to the event, for all of the parents to see. These colorful posters are real attention-getters and they offer a great chance to showcase your work in public!

I also ordered Business Cards, through CPQ Press Creator to hand out on the same night that I’ll be taking pictures. The cards have the event-gallery web address and a unique password (just for that party) printed right on them! This step makes it easy for me to put the right amount of information into the hands of parents and keep on shooting!

CPQ Notes:
What we love about Amy’s idea is that it’s an inexpensive, easy-to-test, quick concept that gets results!

Amy is really thinking ahead with the posters which help parents know about the event, and her presence at the event, in advance. The gallery cards are a critical component to the plan. They’re fun and informational -- containing everything the parents will need to know so they can order more prints from Amy.

We want to challenge you to think about how you could adapt Amy’s idea of using posters and coordinating gallery cards to increase the results of your next event. It’s a small investment that is sure to bring you big rewards!

An Update from Amy:

The Halloween event was this past weekend and it was a great success! Parents came prepared for Amy to take photos because of the posters and cards she had placed in the school before the big night.

Amy also held a separate event, the next day, at a local baby boutique. The owner of the boutique handed out cards to her customers in the weeks leading up to the event, scheduling 20 minute “mini sessions” with the children in their costumes.

This event took place inside the store which served a dual purpose – photographs were taken and customers were shopping. The event was such a success that the store owner has asked Amy to photograph again in November and in December shooting mini sessions in Holiday/Christmas clothing!

Good work Amy!
